Buddipole Users on Monserrat operation to commence 29 January 2007

The Buddipole Users on Monserrat (BUMS) are making their final preparations for the lightweight DXpedition. Operations are planned for 29 January through 6 February 2007. Seven operators: Budd Drummond (W3FF, VP2MFF), Chris Drummond (W6HFP, VP2MHF), B. Scott Andersen (NE1RD, VP2MRD), Mike Greenwood (KC4VG, VP2MVG), Paul Van Dyke (KB9AVO, VP2MVO), Bob Follett (AB7ST, VP2MST), and Tom Clarke (W4OKW, VP2MTC) will establish a two station operation at Gingerbread Hill, one SSB/CW and the other operating various data modes including PSK31 and RTTY. Several portable stations will be operated during the day from various interesting points on the island including the Montserrat Volcano Observatory, hilltops along hiking trails, and beaches using portable antennas, batteries, and solar power.

DXpedition pilots supporting operation from their homes in the US are Dan Gagnon (WZ1P) and Dave Bushong (KZ1O). QSL contacts from all operators via NE1RD. Additional information on the operation, including an on-line log, is available from the DXpedition web site. Daily reports from the operation will be made through NE1RD's blog The 100 Pound DXpedition.
